# How to Message on a Maintenance Request

Add an internal note or send a message to the resident or vendor.

Write an internal note, message the resident, or message the vendor. The resident and the vendor each see only the messages meant for them.

## Before you start

- Sign in as a landlord.

- The request has to be on your **Maintenance** list.

## Add a log entry

1. Go to **Maintenance**.

2. On the request row, select the form icon (**Add log entry**).

3. Under **Who can see this**, choose who the note is for:

    - **Internal note** is just for you. The resident isn't emailed.

    - **Message tenant** shows up on the resident's request, and they get an email.

    - **Message vendor** shows up on the assigned vendor's job page, and they get an email.

4. Enter the **Note**.

5. Select **Save**.

You can get to the same form from the expanded row. Expand the request, open **Log**, and select **Add to the log**.

## Read the thread

Expand the request and open **Log** to see everything that has happened on it, messages included. If the list runs past the first page, **More** loads older entries.
