If you're on a paid plan, you can cancel your subscription yourself in Account Settings. Cancelling takes effect right away: billing stops, and your properties can no longer collect new rent payments through PayRent. Your account and your data stay where they are.
If you still want to collect rent and only need different pricing, change your plan instead of cancelling. See How to Change your Service Plan.
Who can cancel
Cancel Subscription appears only if you're on a paid plan, meaning your monthly fee is more than $0. Free plans don't show the option, and once you've cancelled the button stays greyed out.
Cancel your subscription
Open Account Settings in the left menu.
Click Plans and Billing.
Under your service plan, click Cancel Subscription.
Pick a reason: too expensive, not using it enough, switching to another platform, missing features you need, or other. You have to pick one before you can continue.
The button changes to Really cancel? Can't undo! Click it to confirm.
The Plans and Billing panel closes once the cancellation goes through, and you'll get an email confirming it. If you see "We could not cancel your subscription, please try again", try once more, and contact us if it keeps failing.
What changes, and what doesn't
What stops:
Your monthly service plan billing. You won't be charged again.
New rent payments through PayRent. Your renters can't submit new payments.
Paid plan features.
What keeps going:
Your account, properties, renters and payment history stay intact. Nothing is deleted.
Payments already submitted or in progress finish as normal.
Money already collected still settles and pays out to your bank on the usual schedule.
Cancelling isn't the same as moving to a free plan. PayRent won't put you on another plan automatically.
Start collecting rent again
You can come back whenever you want. Go to Account Settings > Plans and Billing, click Change (or open Service Plans) and pick a plan. Choosing a plan restarts your subscription.
Common questions
Can I undo a cancellation?
Not from that button. To use PayRent again, pick a service plan.
Can my renters still pay?
Not new payments. Anything already submitted finishes, and money already collected still pays out.
Will I lose my data?
No. Your account, properties and records stay.
Is this the same as closing a property group?
No. Closing a property group turns off payments for that group and can't be undone. Cancelling ends your subscription across the account. See How do I close a property group or cancel my PayRent account?
I didn't cancel my subscription. What should I do?
Email [email protected] from the address on your account. If you think someone else used your account, tell us in that email.
